Here is a photo by J.S. Rice that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during June of 1958. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8731, a BS-24M transfer locomotive built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in December of 1952 and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. It looks to me like it's shifting a retired steam locomotive that will soon be dispatched to the recycling center. ("JpsPcc6992" A; #4 of 6) |
