Louisville & Nashville GP30 1040 was on an eastbound train heading across New Orleans, on its way from the Southern Pacific’s AVONDALE YARD to the L&N’s GENTILLY YARD. The 1040 was one of 58 GP30’s built new for the L&N in 1962-63. The railroad also acquired 3 more from the Missouri Pacific (ex-Chicago & Eastern Illinois) and 10 from the Seaboard Coast Line. |
