Here is the first of two original photos of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1139, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during July of 1917 and retired in 1956 after 39 years of faithful service. Looks to me like the Engineman is performing the required pre-run inspection and lubrication drill. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded.
