Here is the third of five successive original photos by John S. Fisher that were taken in Columbus, Ohio, in June of 1958. Caption On Reverse: "Scrapping of PRR J's at Columbus by Sumner & Co., of Cincinnati. June, '58." Partially visible at the far right is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6454, a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during December of 1942 and retired in September of 1957 after just 15 years of revenue service. Aiding and abetting the carnage is PRR 70-ton gondola #345458. |
