New Portage. Here is an original 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) by A.J. Reinschmidt that was taken at the tunnels under Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 28 April 1978. This is a Fireman's side view from a moving Conrail GM-EMD GP40-2 diesel-electric locomotive about to pass under a signal bridge and through the Allegheny Tunnel on its way West to the Conway Yards. Note that the Gallitzin Tunnel no longer has smoke-blower machines. |
