| Much smaller than the massive DMIR 2-8-8-4 #227 is this Duluth & Northern Minnesota 2-8-2 Mikado #14 built by Baldwin in 1913. Its primary work was in the logging industry of Minnesota. It did run an occasional passenger train later in its work history and well as iron ore until downgraded to being in "portable" stationary boiler service. In 1974, plans were made to eventually donate it to the Lake Superior RR Museum. It actually had a starring role in the Disney movie "Iron Will." |
