I would presume it was a financial burden with out any return in usefulness, so it went to cut costs. It would have been a nice piece for a historical society, though I would imagine, the CN would have wanted it moved away from the right of way, for safety (insurance) purposes. |

Seneca Foods uses this small blue warehouse for loading boxcars of canned goods from their plant in Gillett, at least from what I have been told. Never the less, the perfect for model railroad sized warehouse is a Seneca property, and they do load boxcars there on a spur off the former Soo Line right of way. Whether or not the goods come Gillett, I can't prove it, but that is the information I have received. If any one has better, or more recent, information, please share. |

CN local passes the site of former interlocking tower that guarded the former junction of SOO and C&NW, now the Mountain-Bay State Trail as it switches local industry at Shawano, WI on 30 Jul. '13. The tower stood to the right of the bicyclists, south of SOO tracks and east of C&NW tracks, until it was torn down circa 1995. There are remnants of a foundation in the clump of trees in front of 1st box car, but I don’t recall what used to be there. |

CN local approaches the junction with the former C&NW right-of-way, now the Mountain-Bay State Trail, while servicing a local industry via former SOO rails at Shawano, WI on 10 Sep. '15. The interlocking tower that guarded the junction stood just out of frame to the right, south of SOO tracks and east of C&NW tracks, until it was torn down circa 1995. There are remnants of a foundation in the clump of trees this side of the locomotive, but I do not recall what used to be there. |

I thought the tower stood by the clump of trees on this side of the boxcar, but a review of others' photographs on this site as well as some old maps has proven that my recolleXtion of the tower's location was erroneous. There are remnants of a foundation there, but it must have been something else. |
