ACN. Here is a detail from an official Pennsylvania Railroad photo that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in February of 1903. Prominent here is the Juniata Terminal of the narrow-gauge Altoona, Clearfield, & Northern Railroad ~ the "Wopsy Railroad." It's located at Chestnut Avenue and 2nd Street, almost directly across the street from the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata Shops and the 2nd Street Gate. Note the Altoona & Logan Valley Electric Railway's double-tracked right-of-way paralleling Chestnut Avenue ~ Juniata to the left, Altoona to the right. Here is a postal card entitled "General View, Juniata Shops, P.R.R., Altoona, Pa." No Postmark. Among other things, the Juniata Shops produced 4,584 steam and electric locomotives in the 55 years from the time they first opened in July of 1891 until they ceased production in June of 1946. That's Chestnut Avenue in the foreground, while portions of the Altoona Yards are visible behind the Shop buildings. Produced and distributed by I. & M. Ottenheimer of Baltimore, Maryland, c. 1917.

Homer Tower. Here is an image that was taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's HOMER Tower in East Altoona, Pennsylvania. Shown here are two hardy railroaders "ridin' the westbound hump" on a foggy Winter's day. Note the hand-thrown switches down the line. Description:
Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania Railroad New Type Passenger Locomotive." Postmarked: 28 March 1925. Caption On Reverse: "Type K-4s Passenger Locomotive." #1737 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during May of 1914, renumbered "3750" in 1956, and retired in February of 1960 after 46 years of faithful service. Note the manual reverse, piston rod extension, boiler-tube pilot, bell cord, as well as the old-style electric headlight. #1737 is the original K-4S.
