Title:  NH EF-1 #092 - New York, New Haven & Hartford RR
Description:  Built by a partnership between Baldwin and Westinghouse, this electric locomotive was delivered to the New York, New Haven & Hartford RR in September of /1912 (builder #38322). This class of electric boxcabs were intended for freight service with no train heating generators or third rail D.C. equipment used for passenger routes. "092 worked the freight yards until retirement in July of 1953. No photographer listed and the actual day in March, 1935 is approximate.

Title:  AMTK 5263
Description:  Fifty-two seat coach 5263 was manufactured by Pullman-Standard in 1950 as Chesapeake & Ohio 1668. It was one of 67 coaches built under PS Lot No. 6856 as a part of the C&O’s large 1946 order from streamlined cars. Eight of the cars were sold to the Rio Grande before they were completed, and 59 were delivered as C&O 1610-1668. Ten of the C&O coaches were sold to the Seaboard Air Line in 1958 where they became SAL 6242-6251, and they were subsequently Seaboard Coast Line and then Amtrak 5254-5263. Nine other cars went directly from the C&O to Amtrak as the 8410-8411 and 5237-5243. The 5263 wore the same number on the SCL, and was previously SAL 6251. (approximate month)

Description:  Coach-lounge 3851 was built by Pullman-Standard in 1948 as New Haven 36-seat parlor car 317 DANBURY. It was one of 25 Plan W6788 cars (300-324) in Lot No. W46611. Ten of the cars were remodeled into 72-seat coaches 7200-7209 in 1964, losing their names, and were subsequently Penn Central 3190-3199. The 3191 was wrecked in 1971, but the other nine cars became Amtrak 7251-7259. Amtrak subsequently rebuilt two of these cars with 56 coach seats and a 12-seat lounge, and renumbered them 3850 and 3851. The 3851 was previously Amtrak 7257, and before that PC 3197 and NH 7207; and was retied in 1976. (approximate date)

It was one of 20 Plan 9523 10-roomette/6-double-bedroom N&W cars in Budd Lot 9660. All of these were sold to the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1963, which remodeled them into coaches 1480-1499. Description:  Amtrak 44-seat coach 4573 was originally Union Pacific 5533. It was one of 15 cars built by the St. Louis Car Co. between October 1964 and March 1965 as UP 5528-5542, and all of these became Amtrak 4578-4582 in 1971. These were the last coaches built for the UP, and were among the very last long-distance cars built before the creation of Amtrak. Only KCS 270-270 came later, in June and July 1965. The 4573 was converted into Heritage Fleet coach 4615, and was eventually sold to Ringling Brothers where it became RBBX 43004. (approximate month)

Five of the cars were retired before the PC merger in 1968, but the-remaining 13 cars went into the PC 4550-4566 series. Amtrak purchased 10 of the cars in 1973 and remodeled them with a 20-seat lounge and 24 dining seats as the 8330-8339. The 8332 became HERITAGE FLEET diner 8514 and then diner-grill 8555. Description:  Amtrak cafeterea-diner 8399 was originally Union Pacific lunch counter-dining car 4003, one of four such cars (4000-4003) built under ACF Lot 3813 in 1955 with a 21-seat lunch counter and four 4-seat tables. In 1960 the 4001-4003 were remodeled with a cafeteria counter and a 16-seat lounge for service on the CITY OF ST. LOUIS. Description:  Amtrak 1293 was built by the St. Louis Car Co. as U.S. Army kitchen car 89661. It was one of 89 such cars (89600-89688) built under Lot. 1773 in 1953. Fifty of these cars were transferred to Amtrak in 1973, where most of them became 1300- and 1350-series baggage cars. This car became AMTK 1305 in 1973, but was rebuilt into power car 1293 in 1975 and was renumbered 687 in 1977. It was one of six former kitchen/baggage cars rebuilt into power cars which enabled locomotives without head-end power to haul Amfleet cars until enough HEP engines were available.

Description:  Penn Central 76-seat coach 1519 was built by the Budd Co. in April 1949 as Pennsylvania Railroad sleeper HAMILTON INN. It was one of 50 Plan 9513 21-roomette cars in Budd Lot 9667, and the Pennsy remodeled all of these into coaches 1500-1549 in 1963. They retained their same numbers on the Penn Central, although this car still retains its Pennsy-style number at one end and a PRR Keystone emblem next to its vestibule. The 1519 became Southeast Michigan Transportation Authority (SEMTA) 101 later in 1976. (approximate month)

Description:  GENERAL LAFAYETTE was a Pullman Plan 9526 parlor car built by Budd in December 1951 as Pennsylvania Railroad 7131. It had 29 parlor seats and a drawing room, and was one of 16 such cars built for service on the SENATOR and CONGRESSIONAL. The cars subsequently received a food service galley, and retained their same numbers on the Penn Central. Amtrak subsequently remodeled it into 46-seat lounge 3324 in 1976, and was later rebuilt into HEP lounge 3123. After retirement, the car went to an emergency response training facility in Mississippi. (approximate month)

The cars subsequently received a food service galley, and retained their same numbers on the Penn Central. Amtrak 3641 was later remodeled into galley-lounge 3327, and then upgraded into Heritage Fleet lounge 3125. (approximate date)

Description:  Penn Central 7129 ALEXANDER HAMILTON was a Pullman plan 9529 blunt-end observation car built by Budd in January 1952 as Pennsylvania Railroad 7129. It and its twin 7128 GEORGE WASHINGTON had 18 parlor seats, a buffet, and a 25-seat lounge; and were built for service on the CONGRESSIONAL. They became Amtrak 3711 and 3712 in 1976 and were retired the next year. (approximate month)

Description:  Diner-tavern 8338 was originally one of eighteen 44-seat dining cars built by Budd in 1948 as New York Central 450-467. This car was originally 466 and then Penn Central 4566. Five of the cars were retired before the PC merger in 1968, but the remaining 13 cars went into the PC 4550-4566 series. Amtrak purchased 10 of the cars in 1973 and remodeled them with a 20-seat lounge and 24 dining seats as the 8330-8339. The 8338 became HDRITAGE FLEET diner 8514. (approximate month)
