Title:  AMTK 8103
Description:  Counter-diner 8103 was originally Santa Fe 1558, one of 16 cars (1550-1565) built by Budd in 1948 with a 14-seat lunch counter and 20 dining seats. Half of the cars were retired in 1969, while the other eight became Amtrak 8100-8107. The 8103 was photographed on the rear of the westbound SUNSET, where it was either dead-heading west or was serving as an extra food service car behind five sleepers; and was remodeled into Heritage Fleet lounge 3112 in 1981.

Title:  AMTK 8116
Description:  Dormitory/counter/diner 8116 was originally Santa Fe 1575, one of 12 cars (1566-1577) built by Pullman-Standard between June and August 1950 with a 13-seat lunch counter and 20 dining seats. In 1954 nine of the cars (1569-1577) were remodeled with the addition of a crew dormitory area, which reduced the dining area to just eight seats. The unmodified cars were retired in 1968, but the other cars became Amtrak 8110-8118. The 8116 was photographed on the PANAMA LIMITED and was retired in 1977.

In 1971, all 13 of these cars went to Amtrak as #2750-#2762, PALM LEAF as #2753. The #2753 was retired in October 1981 and sold in 1982 to private ownership.
