Station. Here is an original telephoto view that I took near the Pennsylvania Railroad's Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on the afternoon of 11 December 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engine #5900 and two other units whose numbers are not legible. All were built by EMD. #5900 is an EP-20 built in 1945 and rated at 2,000; it was the first EMD passenger Diesel delivered to the PRR. They are pulling a westbound mail/express train and are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge. The gray, two-storey building on the left is the Railway Express Office. Also visible are PRR ES-10 switcher #9174 and the 7th Street Bridge in the distance. |
