PRR Westbound Receiving Yard in East Altoona, 1953
WRY. Here is an aerial photo by Mr. Tom Hollyman that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, during August of 1953. Shown here is the Pennsylvania Railroad's Eastbound Receiving Yard, constructed about 1903. In the foreground, workers are making light repairs to loaded cars in transit. Visible at the bottom of the hill, on the left, are the east- and westbound passenger tracks. Beyond them, in the smoky distance, is the East Altoona Coaling Tipple.
