New cars on the C train is a head scratcher for me. When I rode, back in the dark ages when things were rotten and the MTA had no money, the C was ALWAYS R 1/9's. When they were finally retired around 1975, only then did they get an upgrade-to R 10's, which had been displaced off the A train(which was getting R 44's). The C was the reddest of red headed stepchildren on the IND.
